Too Hot To Trot - Ankle Boots

Can you believe that it's already December? For most of us living in the tropics, the only indication that the holiday season is upon us are the festive decorations which are sprouting in it's mad, embellished glory in every shopping mall in town.

We at Dipped Row are self-professed sun-seekers, but this holiday season we're planning on spending the Christmas season in Europe! Winter may have its shortcomings: short days and depressingly long nights, chapped lips, frost-bitten extremities, layers which don't quite tackle the cold but get annoyingly stuffy every time you step inside, the dirt-ridden sludge that lingers after a snow day... Yes, I could go on, but the one thing we love most about a winter holiday, (aside from accessorising our winter wear with Dipped Row bling) are boots.

Every fall/winter a new trend appears before us and compels us to trawl through our favourite online havens and purchase a shiny, new saviour to see us through the chilly climes whilst promising to make us look effortlessly chic. Yes, it's our never-ending love affair with footwear which will soon be our downfall.

This year, we're just slightly obsessed with ankle boots. Unlike their knee-length cousins, one foregoes the constant hassle and aerobic plight of peeling/wrenching/pulling them off every time you step indoors.  Also, if the style is chosen unwisely, knee length boots can border on vampy, or worse still, trampy.

Now with ankle boots they're just as easy to slip on and off and completely on-trend. The Dipped Row HQ had some in-depth research done and conducted a serious study in this area. Our findings were conclusive, the sweet spot in choosing the perfect ankle boot is the length of the boot itself. This season, we're loving ankle boots cut approximately 2 inches above the ankle, a far more flattering shape and easily disguises those dreaded cankles.

We've whittled it down to our top 5 favourite ankle boots for winter 2014. Trust us, these babies will make you wish it was winter everyday.

1) Givenchy Ankle Boots in pale blush leather

A different take on the conventional black/brown boot.  We love the freshness of this blush tone and it's cut to a perfect length. Guaranteed to breathe new life into your everyday ensemble.

2) Christian Louboutin, Lamu 120 ankle boots

Exuding tough and chic, it's all in the details with these ankle boots. The black leather straps and faux shoelace accents gives an added edge to body con skirts and skinny jeans.
3) See by Chloe, Buckled Suede Ankle Boots

Classic, sturdy and stylish. This would look sharp with skinny jeans and a blazer.

 4) Zara High Heel Leather Ankle Boot with strap

We love the grey hue against the brown stacked heel. This would look great paired with a midi skirt.

5) Saint Laurent, Signature Rangers Studded Leather Ankle Boot

Paying homage to the grunge era, these studded ankle boots can be styled with leather skinnies or juxtaposed with a flowery mini dress. Either way, you're sure to channel your inner rock goddess.

Love and more love,

The Dipped Row Team xo
